FDA’s tracking and analysis of surveillance sampling isolates for outbreak detection

چکیده
Introduction Identifying, solving, and stopping foodborne outbreaks in the U.S. requires the collaboration and coordination of multiple federal agencies and centers as well as state and local authorities. FDA’s Coordinated Outbreak Response and Evaluation (CORE) Network is responsible for outbreak surveillance, response, and post-response activities related to incidents involving multiple illnesses linked to FDA-regulated food. CORE collaborates with CDC to obtain data on foodborne illnesses and illness clusters and with FDA Centers and field staff to obtain laboratory and inspectional information related to contaminated foods and foodborne illness outbreaks. CORE’s Signals and Surveillance team coordinates isolate tracking activities among several organizations within FDA and CDC and the isolate database was developed for timely information sharing and early signal detection.

Early Detection of Dysentery Outbreaks by Cumulative Sum Method Based on National Surveillance System Data in 1393-1396
Background and Objectives: Correct and timely detection of the outbreaks of diseases with a short incubation period is of great importance in the health system. The aim of this study was to determine the detection of dysentery outbreaks using the cumulative sum method. Methods: This time series study was conducted using the data of the National Surveillance System between 2014 and 2017. The...

Background and Aim: Enterococcus species are opportunistic pathogens and their pathogenicity seems to be related to the presence of a number of pathogenicity genes. Since donkey’s milk is a new non-allergenic source of nutrition, this study was performed to assess the antibiogram and detection of pathogenicity genes in some Enterococcus faecalis isolates from donkey’s milk. Materials and Method...
متن کاملRapid Whole-Genome Sequencing for Surveillance of Salmonella enterica Serovar Enteritidis
For Salmonella enterica serovar Enteritidis, 85% of isolates can be classified into 5 pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) types. However, PFGE has limited discriminatory power for outbreak detection. Although whole-genome sequencing has been found to improve discrimination of outbreak clusters, whether this procedure can be used in real-time in a public health laboratory is not known. There...
متن کاملCovariance Analysis of a vector tracking GPS receiver based on MMSE multiuser Detection
In high dynamic conditions, using vector tracking loops instead of scalar tracking loops in GPS receivers is proved as an efficient method to compensate the performance. The Minimum Mean Squared Error detector as a multiuser detector is applied in the vector tracking loop for more reliability and efficiency. The Kalman filter does the two tasks of tracking and extracting the navigation data aft...

Background: The outbreaks of foodborne diseases is a major health problem and occur daily in all countries, from the most to the least developed. This study is the first report of foodborne outbreaks in Iran that carried out from 2006 to 2011. Methods: A retrospective, longitudinal study carried out using foodborne disease national surveillance system data from 2006-2011, which have been re...
